Index and Measures

The Teacher Wellbeing and Career Observatory Indexes collect real-time data on wellbeing, career and digital wellbeing, providing up-to-date insights to support educators and inform policy. The indexes are open biennially for specific periods of time. For information, contact your country’s focal point: 

Τeacher Wellbeing & Career Index

The Teacher Wellbeing and Career Index is an online questionnaire collecting live answers about teacher wellbeing and career at a pan – European level. It examines:

  • Demographics
  • Career progression & Professional development
  • Wellbeing (Teacher Subjective Wellbeing Questionnaire (TSWQ), The PERMA Profiler, The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI)
  • Job satisfaction
  • Challenges, suggestions

Teacher Digital Wellbeing Index

The Teacher Digital Wellbeing Index (produced in the framework of the PERMA – Digital project) is an online questionnaire collecting live answers on the digital wellbeing level of teachers at all educational levels. It examines the interaction with digital tools and environments, focusing on the 5 PERMA model elements (Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Achievement). The index incorporates:

  • the PERMA Profiler that mainly measures the five pillars of wellbeing
  • the SELFIE for Well-being, originated from the SELFIE for digital competence and adapted to include dimensions of wellbeing.

Wellbeing Observatory Reports

The wellbeing observatory reports are released biennially, including the measurements as documented through the Teacher Wellbeing and Career Index & the Teacher Digital Wellbeing Index.
